New Release: The CFM - Teacher Version - A Comparative Evaluation
Validating the Child Functioning Module - Teacher Version
Good-quality data are key to eliminating discrimination based on disability and to advancing policies and programmes aimed at promoting inclusive education.
To strengthen this evidence base, UNICEF and the Washington Group on Disability Statistics released the Child Functioning Module (CFM) in 2016. Since then, the tool has been used in over 80 household surveys in low- and middle-income countries to generate estimates on the number of children with functional difficulties and assess their access to education. Building on this success, UNICEF and the Washington Group developed a Teacher Version of the Child Functioning Module (CFM-TV) designed for use in national Education Management Information Systems as well as other data collection efforts, such as school-based surveys. This approach reduces costs and supports the design of interventions that promote inclusive education. The CFM-TV is available in multiple languages.
A new report, Child Functioning Module – Teacher Version: A Comparative Evaluation presents findings from the validation study that assessed teachers’ ability to accurately report on children’s functional status.
