In 2015 the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) awarded The Leonard Cheshire Disability and Inclusive Development Centre (LCDIDC) at University College London (UCL) a grant to support the institutional capacity of the Washington Group on Disability Statistics in the form of staffing and resources for information transfer. LCDIDC are working in direct collaboration with the WG Secretariat. The mission is to support and enhance the use of the WG tools internationally.
This grant outlines some priority work for the next four years:
- Provide global technical assistance through regional workshops and subgroup meetings to provide training to National Statistical Offices interested in implementing the WG tools.
- Provide global technical assistance to NGOs, Disabled People’s Organisations, researchers and other interested in implementing WG tools
- Develop support materials to provide avenues for online training and outreach to a wider audience
- Investigate the potential for new question sets related to participation, inclusive education and mental health
LCDIDC is hosting the work of the WG Secretariat; it is responsible for coordinating and tracking the progress of the four year work plan.Professor Nora Groce serves as Director of this project.
